Every year five million tonnes of waste wood is generated in the UK and the recycling and reprocessing industry for wood has also grown owing to increasing landfill taxes and government initiatives.
Pallets are the easiest of all wood waste to recycle. They are usually ‘clean’ (untreated) and easy to handle (they can be loaded/unloaded by forklift). All wooden pallets that are collected by Agecko are sorted into size and quality ready to be recycled or reused. Any wood that cannot be reclaimed is chipped into animal bedding, biomass fuel or panel boards.
Recycling timber is a practice that was popularised in the early 1990’s as issues such as deforestation and climate change prompted both timber suppliers and consumers to turn to a more sustainable timber source. Wood waste is often turned into new wooden products – such as recycled wooden flooring or garden decking. Laminate (i.e. flooring) is generated from shredded wood glued together to make the final product. Waste wood can also be composted or burned as a fuel.
Agecko offer bespoke or scheduled collection and recycling service for all your unwanted pallets and wood. Many organisations we work with are already benefiting financially, receiving good rebates from recycling (dependant on the quality of the pallets).
Agecko UK Ltd, as a leading waste management provider, use innovative and traditional solutions ensuring the waste and recycling option chosen best fits the customers’ needs. Contact our experienced waste management team to discuss your requirements.
