Company Overview

One of our clients is one of the largest independent flooring companies in the UK and delivers products worldwide.

Before coming to Agecko, this client needed a solution for their waste management as they were using large skips for all their waste streams. These skips were being exchanged twice a week which meant that their transport costs were drastically increasing. Also, on reports, recycling waste was not being captured due to it being classed as ‘general’ waste. This client wanted to become more sustainable, reduce transportation costs and see if they could improve their recycling percentages.

Agecko Solution

Agecko were invited to complete a waste audit. The customer communicated their concerns and stated that a longer-term strategy was required. Agecko noticed that if the customer’s waste was segregated at source and recycled correctly, this could form another income stream for the business.

For this reason, Agecko recommended this client, segregated their waste and installed equipment for each recyclable waste stream and their residual general waste.

 

Outcome

This installation meant the large skips were no longer being exchanged twice weekly which has drastically reduced the amount spent on transport costs and massively improved their carbon footprint. The company are now receiving a rebate for their recyclables (over £700 since the install) and they receive monthly environmental reports, detailing each waste stream. Not only did this customer offset their waste and transport costs but is now making income from the waste build-up by recycling in a more efficient manner.

The clients previous waste cost was circa £40k per annum. Over the first six months of working with Agecko, this reduced to £5768.00 (inc. rental charges) & disposal £2883.92.
