Low density polyethylene (LDPE), commonly used for pallet wrap and often used for shrink wraps, dry cleaner garment bags, squeezable bottles, bread packaging and plastic grocery bags. Products made using LDPE plastic are reusable, but not always recyclable an example of when it is recycled is low-grade uses such as bin bags. If LDPE is segregated and baled it can be valuable and bring down significant costs to waste charges and see a return on income (rebate).
Common LDPE plastic waste types: –
- Clear film (pallet wrap)
- Bubble wrap
- Shopping Bags
- Squeeze Bottles
Examples of what LDPE plastics are recycled into
- Plastic bags
- Dispensing bottled
- Compost bins
When recycled, LDPE plastic can be used for plastic lumber, landscaping boards, garbage can liners and floor tiles, although products made using recycled LDPE are not as hard or rigid as those made using recycled HDPE plastic.
