Anaerobic digestion is a fantastic, cost effective solution that converts waste to energy. Agecko specialises in the collection of ‘feed’ waste, generated from factory lines and out of date stock. High calorific feed waste material is mixed in with food waste to be re-processed into energy from the anaerobic digestion (or AD) plant.
Food waste accounts for over 40% of all waste going to landfill in the UK (wrap.org.uk) so this is a very important waste stream to manage. Biodegradable material (i.e. inedible food waste and organic material) can be broken down by a process called anaerobic digestion. This creates biogas, which can be combusted to generate electricity and heat or processed into renewable natural gas and transportation fuels.
Anaerobic digestion is a sustainable food/feed waste management solution. This process is environmentally friendly, cost effective and diverts waste from landfill. Converting waste to energy reduces carbon emissions and powerful greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere.
Natural biogas is created in sealed anaerobic (meaning ‘the absence of oxygen’) tanks. This generates low cost, low carbon renewable energy. The remaining substance after the process is complete is called digestate, a nutrient-rich bio-fertiliser.
Agecko understands the importance of implementing these processes to segregate and recycle waste to convert waste to energy. We work in partnership with numerous clients/suppliers nationwide to ensure that all ‘combustible residual waste’ (the remaining waste once all recyclable material has been segregated at source) is diverted from landfill and sent for waste for energy.
Agecko UK Ltd is a leading waste management provider. We use innovative and traditional solutions to ensure the waste and recycling option chosen, best fits the customers’ needs. Please contact our experienced waste management team to discuss your requirements.
