BJS Home Delivery grew fast, purchasing a fleet of 10 vans – enabling us to grow our business and win some great new clients.
BJS Home Delivery were one of the first to introduce ‘next day’ and ‘choice of delivery day’ for our customers; a breakthrough in the two-man delivery market.
In 2013 a move from 18,000 sq. ft. facility into a 125,000 sq. ft. facility to meet the demands of business growth.
2015 BJS Home Delivery fleet of vans increased to 70, including the acquisition of several 18T and 40t vehicles for completing increased volume collections from our customers and suppliers.

BJS Home Delivery found that the increased volumes in packaging materials removed from site and returned to warehouse (especially cardboard) was becoming increasingly difficult to manage as the business grew.
The costs of disposing and recycling of these materials was becoming expensive and manpower and labour to deal with this was excessive. Housekeeping was also suffering with the increased volumes around the warehouse.
Agecko addressed the housekeeping, labour and cost issues by installing a horizontal baler to compact the large volumes of cardboard, currently running at around 40 tons per month which equated to around 30 collections per month. This meant that a Roll On Roll Off container was serviced every day of the week.
The baler would reduce this frequency to 2 collections every month by curtain side trailer. The benefits of this solution were not only improved recycling revenues to cover baler costs but also:

- Manpower efficiencies

We introduced Agecko into our business in 2015 to solve our waste issues.
We decided to choose Agecko because they were an equipment biased total waste management company, but who designed a bespoke platform for us to operate more effectively.
We now recycle our cardboard waste into bales, alongside EPS and even the polyethylene, that was difficult to find an end destination for, is being taken for recycling. We have significantly reduced the need for skips through the baling and recycling method.
